Your Silence

Your silence,

Adorned by deceit,

Laced with conceit,

is bathed in the blood

of innocents.

Why don’t you speak?

Your silence

Has no dignity,

All this talk of unity,

is coloured by the hypocrisy

of thoughts and deeds.

Why don’t you speak?

Your silence,

Broken for a brother

In faith but no other.

Where is your

Humanity?

Why don’t you speak?

Your silence,

Condones the slaughter

Of innocent sisters

Mothers and daughters.

I’ll say it louder.

Why don’t you speak?

Your silence

Offends me,

When all you judge by

Is Shi’a or Sunni

Hindu, Buddhist

Sikh and Maseehi[1].

A life is a life.

Why don’t you speak?
